 R&B singer Rihanna has been embroiled in a controversy after a Barbadian minister gave her a free piece of real estate while poor residents struggle to cope nearby. Minister of Housing and Lands Michael Lashley gifted the ''Umbrella'' hitmaker a plot in the upmarket area of Apes Hill as a token of gratitude for boosting international interest in the Caribbean island nation.
However, Government Minister Gline Clarke has lambasted the decision - insisting a rich pop star has no right to garner free land while other Barbadians live in poverty, reports the Daily Star. "Why is the government paying millions of dollars for land for someone who's already making millions?" he asked.

Rihanna did a little shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue in Los Angeles, California on June 22, 2010 with a bodyguard. Rihanna goes to great lengths to keep her relationships as private as possible but was recently seen out on a dinner date with boyfriend Dodgers baseball player Matt Kemp where both looked very upset to see the camera men outside. Rihanna didn t seem to happy to see the shutterbugs this afternoon after a shopping spree in Saks but she let them get a few good ones oh her in her summer ready red hot outfit before heading on her way. In other recent news its said Katy Perry would love to see Rihanna strip at her bachelorette party and has also been the talk of the town about her latest song with Eminem. (Fame Pictures, Inc).

Rihanna shared some interesting stuff with ELLE magazine and is feature on the cover of the new issue, out June 15. Check out some of the stuff she shared...
On the album art for Rated R: "I wanted pictures that represented strength and fearlessness but still femininity-a strong woman who can be vulnerable. Every woman is made up of vulnerability and strength; no matter what race you are, no matter what you've been through in your life. Every woman has that strength that is undeniable, but we also have really big hearts. It's just us."
On Matt Kemp: ?I have a boyfriend. I?m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it?s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family.?
On Chris Brown: ?A year ago, I was very confused. Because he was my best friend. All of a sudden, one night changed our whole lives?not only our friendship, but our lives. I wanted to wake up one day and just not have that pain anymore. I wanted to be with him again or get over him?it was either-or. I just didn?t want to feel the pain, the confusion.?"
On designers she admires: "It's clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I'm a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci-that was a big deal. I respect designers who aren't afraid to go outside the box. I went to a Jean Paul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited. I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure."

Good hearted Rihanna is telling her fans to help her favorite charity win a $250,000 grant. Rihanna has been a long time supporter of the cancer organization DKMS Americas and she wants to win them a cash prize. The charity is just one of many competing for a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Everything initiative, and Rihanna is determined to win the money on behalf of the organization. A post on the charity?s site reads, "Rihanna is deeply involved with DKMS, partnering with them through her own foundation, the Believe Foundation. "The DKMS mission is to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors for leukaemia patients. DKMS is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world with over two million registered donors.  Rihanna's ex. Chris Brown, is allegedly struggling to find a venue for his upcoming 21st birthday bash. The shamed star was handed a community service order and five years probation for getting violent with Rihanna during a fight after a pre-Grammy Awards party last year. His image has not been so good since the incident, and now Brown is even allegedly struggling to find a club venue whose owners are happy to host the star's 21st birthday celebrations on May 5th. The singer has allegedly looked for clubs in New York, Miami, and Las Vegas without success. A source told New York Post gossip column PageSix, "(Some club promoters) don't want to mess up their relationship, or their potential relationship, with Rihanna."
