SOUTHAMPTON HOSPITAL FETE
Jean And Martin ShafiroffIt?s the height of the East End social season and over the top galas, posh movie screenings and hip gallery openings compete for attention from the Hamptons nightlife scenesters. The big daddy of them all, the 52nd Annual Southampton Summer Party chaired by the radiant Jean Shafiroff was a dazzling affair that pulled in the entire Blue Book crowd and - not surprisingly - big bucks for the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department. RED HOT RED CROSS BALL
LL Cool JFurther east the Red Hot Red Cross Ball hosted by Tricia. Kallet and Craig Klosk on their gorgeous Sagaponack Estate, was a smashing success. Event Co-Chairs Robin Katz Boyarski and Claudine Joseph gathered a terrific group together to raise funds for the American Red Cross of Suffolk County. It certainly didn?t hurt that Long Island?s own multi-talented singer, composer, producer and actor LL Cool J was the recipient of their Humanitarian Award. The Bayshore native is heating up the small screen as Special Agent Sam Hanna in the red hot series NCIS: Los Angeles. Ranked #5 on VH1's 50 Greatest Hip Hop Artists, he has also become a great actor.
DONNA KARAN'S "THE BIG C' BASH
Donna Karan
Also on Saturday night, Donna Karan opened her East Hampton estate for the launch of Showtime?s new series. ?The Big C? starring Laura Linney, John Benjamin Hickey and Oliver Platt. For Karan who lost both her husband and a best friend to cancer it was a no brainer host the event at her waterfront home. With a tag line that says ?Time to Grab Life by the Balls?, the series follows Linney, a suburban mom, diagnosed with cancer who tries to find the humor in the disease. Linney?s TV fame includes her Emmy-winning role as Abigail Adams in HBO?s ?John Adams? and movie career includes hits like ?Kinsey? and ?Love Actually?. Organized by Andrew Saffir?s Cinema Society, the screening pulled in a star studded crowd of Hollywood movers and shakers, Hamptons fashionistas and New York socialites including Calvin Klein, Martha Stewart, Alan Alda, Fern Mallis, Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, Mark Ruffalo, Gabourey Sidibe, Edie Falco, Olivia Palermo, Linda Wells, Reid Scott, Aida Turturro, Darren Star, Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brant, Tamara Mellon, Patrick Demarchelier, Hana Soukupova, Bravo TV?s Andy Cohen James Lipton and Showtime?s CEO Matt Blank and their new president of entertainment, David Nevins. Following the screening, everyone headed to the beach for an old fashioned bonfire.
GREAT CHEFS DINNER
Richard Gere
Later that afternoon, there was an amazing confluence of culinary wizardry with the annual Great Chefs Dinner to raise funds for the Hayground School in Bridgehampton and to remember one of its co-founders, Jeff Salaway, the East End restaurateur (Nick & Toni?s) who died in 2001. More than 60 percent of Hayground?s students receive financial aid, and this annual benefit is an important source of revenue. For foodies, it was a day in heaven with rock star chefs like Eric Ripert, Tom Colicchio, Marc Meyer and Laurent Tourondel working alongside the cream of the crop of East End food scene such as Miche Bacher (Sacred Sweets), Claudia Fleming (North Fork Table & Inn, Southold), Sam Talbot (Top Chef, Surf Lodge in Montauk), Kevin Penner (1770 House in East Hampton), Bryan Futerman (Foody?s, Water Mill), Tom Schaudel (A Mano in Mattituck), Christian Mir (Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue), Joseph Realmuto (Nick & Toni?s in East Hampton), Keith Luce (Luce & Hawkins in Jamesport), Steven Lewis (First Street Restaurant in Greenport) and Vittorio Assaf (Serafina East Hampton). An added bonus was real rock star Jon Bon Jovi who generously posed for photos with fans at the dinner. Richard Gere, Carey Lowell and Star Jones also lined up for tastings from the top toques.
FRANK TRAMONTANO ADDS JOBS
Speaking of top chefs, we hear that Frank Tramontano will be soon hosting the ribbon cutting for his new venture Ever so Saucy Foods which will start churning out his line of basting systems called Tasty Tents available in six varieties from a rich port wine sauce to an October Fest lager version. Chef Tramontano will be prepping to entertain dignitaries and the culinary community on the day the assembly line starts rolling. Kudos to Chef Tramontano, who in the worst recession in recent memory, is adding new manufacturing jobs on Long Island.
KELSEY GRAMMER AT ALMOND'S
Kelsey Grammer
While a raft of new eateries has popped up ? as every season ? the old mainstays continue to be celebrity magnets. What?s the secret behind their success ? simple ? great food using the highest quality ingredients and real old-fashioned hospitality. At Almond in Bridgehampton, owner Eric Lemonides greets everyone at the door with the spirit of liberté, egalité and fraternité and is sure to be by the table with wine bottle in hand while partner Jason Weiner is in the kitchen preparing the lusty peasant dishes for that night?s dinner. No wonder folks like Kelsey Grammer chose to dine there this weekend with a group of friends.
DINING WITH BOBBY FLAY
Bobby Flay
When an internationally known chef drops by that?s a sure sign things are going right in the kitchen. Master of the grill Bobby Flay put his vet on two local haunts.
Last week, he dined solo at Turtle Crossing and Saturday found him with his wife Stephanie March on the patio at Bostwick?s Chowder House enjoying a seafood feast of steamers, seared tuna taco and fluke Milanese. He obviously was pleased as he returned Sunday with his staff and the group took over the outside and noshed on several items from the menu including lobster roll, steamers, baked clams, coconut shrimp spring rolls, striped bass, stuffed flounder, crab cakes, lobster bisque and more.
NICK & TONI'SMore than two decades since first opening, Nick & Toni?s in East Hampton continues to be celebrity central welcoming this week alone Howard & Beth Stern, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and his wife, Acclaimed musician Itzhak Perlman and his missus and Christie Brinkley with a few pals. Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is thinking she made a "terrible mistake" removing a mole on her chin last year, because she's permanently lost her trademark beauty spot. Sara has admitted that she was never fond of the mole, and finally asked her brother-in-law, a plastic surgeon, to get rid of it. She told David Letterman, "I've been in therapy since it happened. ... Honestly, I didn't think a thing about it and apparently it turned into molegate. A woman came on to the beach really upset and she said, 'I don't know why you did that, your mole was your signature!' I was like, 'My mole is my signature?' ... And then for the next 15 minutes I couldn't hear anything people said to me. All I could think was, 'I've made a terrible mistake - Can I put it back on?' My son tells me every now and then he misses it. ... I feel like I should've talked to more people." Photo By: Sara De Boer/Retna Source: |

Sarah Jessica Parker
Former Sex And The City Star Sarah Jessica Parker became a manicurist on the set of her new film "Did You Hear About The Morgans?" when she noticed her onscreen husband Hugh Grant had "raggedy" nails, reports dailystar.co.uk. The innovative Jessica got her clippers and files out and decided to clean the dirty British star up. She explains, "I did Hugh's nails every Tuesday. He's beautiful and chic and groomed, but he has a raggedy hand, nails that look like he clipped them with his teeth." The fun loving actress didn't stop with his hands either, she also tidied up her Hugh's toenails. Jessica also says, "I think if you're gonna be in a movie, America deserves a clean foot." Grant is admitting he had no idea his nails were such a big issue: "We all have toenails like that in England." Photos By: Sara De Boer/Retna Source: |

She's not just into fashion and releasing fragrances!
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker will be joining the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities in an effort to help with President Barack Obama's arts initiatives.
Also joining the committee are actor/director Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, Alfre Woodard, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and even Vogue editor Anna Wintour!
Next Tuesday they will all be installed in to the committee by Vice President Joe Biden.
We think SJPeePee is a great choice, actually! Not only is she a television and movie actress, but she was also involved in musical theater and has always been vocal about her appreciation for ballet.
Congrats!

Former Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker aiming at Star magazine over the measures journalists and photographers are going to in order to unearth information about the woman carrying her surrogate twins. Parker is admitting she is "incredibly outraged" by the "outing" of the birth mom-to-be, and that the young woman's friends are even being tailed by the paparazzi. In an exclusive television interview with the show "Access Hollywood," she says, "(It's) an extraordinary and unprecedented invasion of her privacy."The most unsavory things have been done. She's had her phone hacked, her personal computer information hacked, she's had threats against her and true harassment. She's has had friends threatened and family threatened and she's had family of friends threatened."She's had a friend, who was thought to be her, chased down a highway. ... This friend is nine months pregnant."It's crossed lines. ... Pretty much all the lines have been crossed. ... There's simply no excuse for doing this to somebody. It's not acceptable."But Parker also insists, whatever dirt the tabloids dredge up on her surrogate, that she and husband Matthew Broderick have made the right choice: "I'm beyond comfortable with who she is. We haven't been reckless, we haven't been cavalier. She hasn't been reckless."The star only wishes she could be of more service to the woman expecting her twins: "It's really incredibly upsetting to think of her so far away and me not being able to do something, beyond what I'm legally allowed to do."A statement from Star magazine reads, "Star denies that it used any unfair tactics in getting information for the article about Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate." Broderick told host David Letterman, "I'm ready ... (but) I'm nervous just even thinking about it. "I've asked people, 'What's it like to have twins?' One father said, 'I don't recommend it,' but the rest have been very positive." The 44-year-old star is also admitting his 6-year-old son James Wilkie is "pretty excited" and planning to shop for his new baby sisters toys: "He said, 'We have to get a lot of princess toys.'" Stylish celebrity Mom Sarah Jessica Parker was taking her son James to school and the pair looks so cute. Any celebrity Mom who actually takes time to spend precious moments with their kids and do some motherly duties will look great to me. SJP may be dressed down and is wearing one of those ugg boots, but she still looks so chic. Or it might just be mind conditioning from watching too much Sex and City that makes me think of SJP as chic when she’s just wearing jeans and ugg boots. Chic or not may be debatable… but SJP definitely looks great with her son.
